Description:
Three turtles sunbathing on a partly submerged log in a pond in the Rio Grande nature preserve in Albuquerque, New Mexico. At the bottom of the photo, a smaller turtle with a green-rimmed shell faces away from the camera. This turtle may be of the variety known as a "painted turtle," though there is some uncertainty on this point. The other two turtles are probably red-eared sliders. These larger turtles sit atop the log in the upper portion of the pic.
