Carlsbad Caverns in southern New Mexico has some of the most amazing limestone rock formations in the world. Deep within the earth lies a fantastic wonderland of dripping stalactites, towering stalagmites, and strange, twisted rock formations. The caverns stretch for miles underground, dug by the slow action of acidic water seeping through the limestone over the long millennia. The upper caves are home to millions of bats, and the lower caverns, cool, dark, and silent, contain a dizzying array of limestone formations that really have to be seen to be beileved.
