Description:
A large black lizard seen from the side and slightly below, sitting on a rock in the sun with head raised, in Death Valley California. Sitting with its fat belly on the ridge atop a large rock, this lizard has wrinkled black sides with tiny tan spots. Seen in bright sunlight, the iris of the eye facing the camera is clearly visible. It has broad jaws with puffy jowels, covered in sharp pointed scales.
