Australia is home to over 800 species of birds, with birds existing in several different microclimates, like shore birds, desert birds and rainforest birds, as well as birds that have migrated or been introduced by settlers. Some of the most well know birds are the Kookaburra and the Emu, but many are vary similar to American and European species. However, this is because of convergent evolution, not an actual genetic relationship. Australian birds range in size from the tiny Weebill songbird to the giant, flightless Emu. Included here are Kookaburras, Ibis, Galahs, and other birds, however you can also find some Australian Birds on our single bird categories, like Pelicans and Ducks.
