The Amur or Siberian Tiger seen here (Panthera tigris altaica) is one of the big cats featured at the Denver Zoo. Each tiger's black stripe pattern over orange and white fur is as distinctive and individual as human fingerprints. The Amur Tigers are rapidly disappearing across the world and less 400 are estimated to remain today, so zoo and conservation efforts are important. These big cats are usually taller than Bengal Tigers and male tigers weigh between 400 and 600 lbs.
