Amur Tiger Sleeping Profile

Another picture of an Amur or Siberian Tiger sleeping in his enclosure at the Denver Zoo.  This male big cat is lying with his paws out in front of him and a clear view of his profile with wiskers, nose and ear.  Siberian Tigers (Panthera tigris altaica) are almost extinct with an estimated 300 left in the world today.  They are also known as Manchurian, Altaic, Korean, North China, and Ussuri Tiger. They are very similar genetically to the Caspian Tiger and, like all tigers, have distinctive black stripes on orange and white fur.
